Random updates from our home.

Well, my kids are very blessed to have a very cool mom.  A mom who dyes her hair fun colors, not just covers up gray (for the record, I don’t have any gray, and that is the whole truth!)  Yeah, this is what the top looks like…self portrait too.  Man I am good today.

And this is just one example of how cool of a mom my kids have.  I could go on forever.  But I am humble, so I won’t mention all the others.

Did I get in trouble for it at school?  Well, I did get the, “Pieper, what do we tell the children?” (because kids aren’t allowed to color their hair unnatural colors.)

To which I replied sheepishly:  “Whatever makes them happy?”

And then, much to my surprise, from behind me comes a voice from heaven, or maybe it was a 4th grader, “Well, I like it!!”  And if this kiddo likes it, I am GOOD TO GO!!

JP had to build a longhouse for Social Studies class.  What you need to remember about JP is that he LIVES for Social Studies class.  At one point last week, he brought home his book just to show me all the awesome stuff he would be studying.

Him:  Hey, World’s Coolest Mom, wanna see what all we get to cover in Social?

World’s Coolest Mom: Ah, do I have to?

Him:  (paging from cover to cover)  Look, we start at BLAH BLAH BLAH and cover all the way through the Civil War. 

World’s Coolest Mom:  You must be thrilled.

Him:  Nah, I would be thrilled if we went through WWII. 

Oh the disappointment. 

So he must be trying for an overachievement award in the Social Studies class, because long after Bill and I went to bed, he was still up creating. 

Ok, that doesn’t mean a whole lot since I was in bed at 8:30 last night.  But ok, he woke us up at 9:45 with an emergency…he couldn’t figure out how to get his sheets back on his bed.  (We washed them.)  WHAT???  You can build a home for Native Americans but you cant make a bed?  Crap, where have I gone wrong?  Bill had to go help him figure out that if you simply turn the fitted sheet the correct way, it fits pretty easily.  Jeeeeez.  He better get an A on this thing.  Cuz he is failing homestuff 101.  No can opener skills and no bed making skills?  We are doomed.

And lastly, Crazy Man has the best assignment ever for piano lessons this week.

I was so excited.  He had to spend hours cleaning – we even checked under the bed and in the corners.  It was that, or he had to file bankruptcy after last week’s flop.   But then we noticed that the name of the song he is working on is Clean Your Room.    Oops, our bad.
