O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Christmas.  I love shopping, wrapping, baking, decorating, shopping some more.  I love the thrill of the hunt and find.  I love the colors and smells.  I love the excitement the whole season brings.  I love the food – peanut butter balls, caramels, homemade mints.  AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

I also love when I do a lot of the work way in advance –  little by little – so I can enjoy the kids’ programs, Christmas parties, and the quiet mornings drinking hot chocolate with the tree all lit up.

According to the website Organized Christmas, the Christmas season (in the organizing and planning sense of the word) begins the week of Oct 25th with a week of getting organized.  You have a couple weeks to think about whether you are going to be prepared this year, or wing it – whichever is your style.

So I hate to pretend that everything I touch turns to gold.  HAHA.  Here are pictures of today’s food:

Ummmm, like I posted before, I overcooked the meat.  I fed the decent stuff to the fam and kept the charred pieces for myself, so I thought it was dry.  However, the rest of the family really liked it – I served it over plain baked brown rice.  I will have to try it again sometime.  The Oatmeal Blueberry Muffins – OH TO DIE FOR!!  They tasted like Angie’s famous pancakes with blueberries in them.  The pictured one fell apart when I took it out of the tin, so I had to eat it, shucks.  I could eat them all by myself, easily.  In one sitting.  I might go get one quick.  Before I post this and then there is nothing any of you can do to stop me.

This Crazy Weather

Dear God,

I know you don’t make mistakes, but I have to wonder when it is 84 degrees on October 11th.  IN FARGO!  I am reading that Mankato, MN was 90 today.  WHAT?  And no wind?  Are you confused?  This is July weather.    Since you are generously dishing out the heat, could I order up some crazy warm weather for February as well?

Also, waiting for a hard freeze.  Horace doesn’t need to spray for mosquitoes in October very often, but I watched them go by with the sprayer tonight.  Yikes!!

Love, Me (Grandpa Al’s favorite Granddaughter, say “hi” to him for me!!)

Apartment Fire

Sickened when I see the smoke from the huge apartment fire in South Fargo.  62 units – 62 families without a home tonight.  62 families who have lost their belongings.  This will be another event that pulls our town together in support, no doubt.  Just sick to my stomach.

I ran tonight.

The end.

It was heart sickening to see it….there’s 100 units in that complex. If you hear of any one needing any boy’s clothes (I still have some size 3t’s and 4t’s left) let me know.

Great job going on a run tonight.

One of our MOPS Mom’s lives in that complex, they have lost everything. They have 3 kids, 5 year old boy, 3 year old girl and a 1 year old boy. Anything will help. Please let me know if anyone will be able to help.
